Thanks for the disgusting response to my last email. I guess it
was only to be expected considering the title ("Maggot Farming").
From culinary ideas (cook with fave beans and a light chianti), to
frank discussions of putsi flies and sand worms, I found the
responses both infantile and enlightening.
I trust that my emails are in that same league.
I'm afraid this will be a rather boring letter. I bid adieu to my
friend Malcolm Lucard today who has been paralleling me on the
singer-songwriter front locally for about 5 years now. He is moving
with his wife and family to Geneva, Switzerland for the next 2
years. He is not only a great songwriter, but a giant community
builder here in the Springs music scene and I will miss him
personally and professionally. Good luck to he and his family.
Here's the digs on gigs:
Fri. July 28 Buddha Java, 28th and W. Colorado. 7-10pm For
those of you who remember the Art of Espresso, this is the
coffeehouse that can finally carry the torch. Rick Rodriguez is
hosting an open mic every Thurs. night for those of you interested
in a bit of performing, and he also plays on Friday nights. This
Friday, though, I will be there, checking out the joint. It is
very intimate, with lots of different rooms for seating and a lovely
deck. The "concert space", however, is tiny so come early. Cover
$5-10 whatever...
Sat. July 29 Creede, CO. Creede Hotel My 4th annual show for
the Recumbent Slumgullion Bike Tour. 6-9pm FREE Incredible food.
See Colorado history. Sponsored by Angletech Bikes, Kelvin Clark.

9:30PM. $10 Call 227-8648 for reservations or tickets (Me). This
is a great opportunity for those of you interested in hearing a bit
about R. Science to meet some delightful folks. It will be a fun
night and will include some songs I've been recording in Paul
Schwotzer's studio.
Tues. Aug.15 Manitou Public Library FREE Outside show. 7-8:30
Sun. Aug. 27 Pinon Valley Park (S.Hoke, J. Laukhuf) Sponsored by
the Pinon Valley Neighborhood Association...6PM Free. Centennial
North from G. of the Gods to Mule Deer. Take a right, park is down
on the left.Last year we had one of the most enjoyable evenings of
the year at this park so if you live up in the 30th and Centennial
area, mark this one down.
Wed. Aug. 30 Gettin Down Downtown Summer Concert Series at
America the Beautiful Park. 6-8pm with guests Susan Rissman,
Gina Goodall (Abendroth), Jeremy Laukhuf(bass) and Jen Griffis
(keys/dulcimer). Susan and I have been getting together to work on
material for her upcoming CD and singing with her is always a joy.
I first saw Gina doing vocals with Malcolm Lucard and found her
voice one of the most interesting and evocative I had heard
locally. Jeremy is a fab bass player and Jen is a long time
songwriting partner, great pianist as well as amazing dulcimer
player.
Summertime blessings on you all. "There is only now. . ."
